Hundreds of Greek Orthodox Christians of Pontian descent

joined His Eminence, Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey and

His Grace, Bishop Andonios of Phasiane (of Pontian descent)

in the unveiling of the first Monument erected in honor and memory of the

more than 300,000 Orthodox Christians who were massacred, slaughtered by the Turks.

This Monument, offered and dedicated by the Pontian Society of Philadelphia "AKRITAI" is the first to be erected in the U.S. and it shall serve as a reminder of the most violent Pontian Genocide, and our responsibility to pray and work for

world peace, justice and freedom.  More so, it will serve as a reminder to our civil authorities of their duty to recognize, based on history and facts, the Pontian Genocide and all Genocides as acts of violence not only against people but against God Himself, and to take every possible measure in putting an end to injustice, violence and most especially violence in the name of God.

MAY THEIR MEMORY BE ETERNAL
